1. my artistic style is all over the place, but my most important rule i follow is self validation. success as an artist to me is if i like my pieces. i couldnt care less about what others think of my art, because i do it for myself. art isnt supposed to be stressful or hard, its self expression and therapeutic. ive learned lots of things from art, but my favorite one is self love. without self love, you wouldnt have art, because art is only completed when you feel best with what youve done.
3. my portfolio is a pretty decent depiction on what ive done throughout the semester. i procrastinate, and i feel like i can never really put in 100%. its always below average and subpar, so i have a habit of just giving up. that is a pretty pessiistoc view of myslef, but it is true. in order to grow and learn, you need to recognize your mistakes and setbacks. my self love has grown quite a bit since the beggining of the semester, even though it doesnt look as if it has. i know now that i dont need to conform to the average or what is considered good in order to love myself. i am valid and worth it, no matter what i do and how i do it.
6. my favorite medium was the prisma colors. they were unlike any colored pencils i had ever used. it also made it more enjoyable to have my own set, so i could work on things outside of class. i felt more independant and creative. it also helped me have my materials and be ready for class faster. the techniques used with the prisma colors were mostly to do with layering and blending. i think i did pretty well with these because layering is one of my favorite techniques to use with many different mediums.
7. my least successful project was the contour drawings. with that project, i couldnt kayer and that was a major setback. a as previosly stated, i love layering. i layer makeup, clothes, paint, everything. but of course, our first project was basicly a no layering zone. it set me behind pretty early, and after everything piled up, i just gave up.
